Using a browser relay safely
A browser relay passes instructions from software running on your own computer, such as a local AI agent, to a browser tab you choose, and returns what happened. That makes it useful for repetitive research and form work, but it also means the agent can act in that tab as if it were you. The guidance below applies to any tool of this kind.
Good habits when an agent controls a tab
- Use a separate Chrome profile for agent work, without saved passwords or signed-in banking, email, or administrator accounts you do not want the agent to reach.
- Attach only the tab the task needs, and detach it as soon as the task is finished.
- Keep approval controls switched on for steps that submit forms, make purchases, send messages, or delete anything.
- Check the result yourself before relying on it. An agent can misread a page, click the wrong element, or stop part-way without making that obvious.
- Keep Chrome and the extension up to date, and remove the extension from your browser's extensions page when you no longer need it.
Who it suits
A relay suits people who already run an agent locally and are comfortable reviewing what it does. If you mainly want to tidy tabs, fill the same form occasionally, or keep a checklist, the browser's built-in features or a simpler extension may be a better starting point. The workflow automation guide explains how to choose.
